Underwater Welding of an Alaskan Offshore Platform

Challenge:

A subsea crack was found on an offshore Alaskan oil platform built in the 1960s. The crack must be repaired while the platform remains in service.

Resolution:

HEA helped establish a repair option for the crack which included underwater welding. This is one of the first uses of this relatively new technology in the Cook Inlet. A testing plan was implemented by our team which involved training the divers and providing time-saving and cost-friendly solutions.
