Challenge:
A brow is required in a shipyard facility to provide access to a ship’s upper deck levels during construction. The brow must be capable of accommodating ship movement in all six degrees of freedom: translation in all three axes (heave, sway, and surge) and rotation in all three axes (roll, pitch, and yaw).
Resolution:
Our engineering team designed a new brow structure to meet the load requirements and the geometry requirements of the shipyard facility. Our design included roller supports and pin/collar supports to allow for the required range of motion.
