Challenge:
A large integral gas compressor onboard a drilling platform in the Cook Inlet was experiencing excessive vibration issues which prevented further use. Our purpose was to investigate the root cause of excessive vibration and determine a solution to mitigate the vibration.
Resolution:
Our engineering team evaluated the system and determined there was unseen structural damage to the mounting system underneaththe compressor. A new robust attachment system was designed that could be installed with minimal down time while the compressor remained in place.
