challenge:
A structural steel work platform is required for workers to better access the mooring lines and more easily guide them to the capstan when mooring ships. The platform must meet geometric challenges to accommodate the existing equipment, piping, and adjacent structures, while properly capturing the angles at which the mooring lines come in.
Resolution:
Our engineering team designed a new work platform structure to meet the load requirements of the applicable code criteria and the geometric requirements of the marine oil terminal facility. A full calculation package was submitted to document our design along with our issued for construction drawings. Our engineering team also assisted in resolving field issues as they arose to ensure that the construction phase went smoothly.
